Buprenorphine Injection

Buprenorphine Injection (Sublocade®) Treatment at Texas Clinic

At Texas Clinic, we offer Sublocade®, a once-monthly injectable treatment for adults with moderate to severe Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). Sublocade® provides continuous medication in the body, helping support long-term recovery without the need for daily dosing.

What Is Sublocade®?

Sublocade® contains buprenorphine, an FDA-approved medication that helps:

  • Reduce opioid cravings
  • Prevent withdrawal symptoms
  • Block the effects of opioids

It is given as a subcutaneous injection (just under the skin) once a month by a certified healthcare provider. Sublocade® is not available at retail pharmacies and must be administered in a clinical setting.

How Sublocade® Works

Sublocade® delivers a steady release of buprenorphine into your body over 28 days.
To start Sublocade®, patients must first be stabilized on an oral buprenorphine medication (like Suboxone®) for at least 7 days.

Benefits of Sublocade®:

  • No daily medication to remember
  • Consistent levels of treatment
  • Reduced risk of misuse compared to daily medications

Important Safety Information

  • Only receive Sublocade® from a certified provider — it must not be self-injected.
  • Breathing problems can occur, especially if combined with alcohol, benzodiazepines, or other sedatives.
  • Always carry naloxone in case of opioid overdose, and call 911 immediately if an overdose is suspected.
  • You may have detectable levels of buprenorphine in your body for months after stopping Sublocade®.
  • Tell emergency medical staff you are on Sublocade® if you need emergency care.
